My artwork focuses on subtleties in form, color and movement. I try to show the viewer beauty in simple organic images and shapes. When you see the different media I work in you will notice strong connections between them.

Today, after many weeks of not painting, I finally picked up a brush. I had just taken some photos last week of rocks at the beach and could not get them out of my head.

The painting did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, but there are parts of it that I like. Here is the part that works:

Tomorrow I will work on fixing the rest and making it feel like my rock photos. I think that a lot of times when I think that my paintings just appear out of nowhere, I actually have some definite visual influences from things I love - like rocks.  I also love the quiet flow of the water and the gentle movement.  I guess I have been working with this idea for quite a while now, I just don't seem to get tired of it. I see complexity and beauty in these simple scenes that most people dont give a second glance. For now this make me happy.
